March 1
The "Young Eagles", sponsored by the
Experimental Aircraft Association, sign on for the
2006 show, to provide flights to youngsters from age 8 to 17.
March 13 Southern California Gas Company signs on as sponsor.
March 17 Titan Graphix selected as event/participant photograhers.
April 6 The Gold Wing Road Rider Motorcycle Club signs on with 15 motorcycles to display!
April 17 Columbia College becomes newest sponsor!
May 1
Our first bicycle entry received; we have more than 20 cars registered; and three food
vendors and three other vendors -- last year we had 135 vendor spaces, 350+ cars ..
and none of these signed up until after June last year.
It's going to be a great show in '06!
May 20 We
have more than 35 cars already entered; more than 30 vendor spaces are
committed; and we expect a much larger military equipment display than last
year.
June 20
Nate Jones, co-founder of the Long Beach Grand Prix and owner of Jones Tires
in Signal Hill, will be bring a Pinewood Derby Competition to the 2006 WWRE, to
allow youngsters to build a race car and compete in competition during the show.
June 26 We
now have more than 50 cars registered for the show (it was Aug. 18 in 2005
before
50 cars had entered).
July 14 Corvette enthusiast Roy Duvall steps up to head the "wheels" portion of our show.
July
20 The Professional Helicopter
Pilots Association (PHPA) will coordinate helicopter rides
during the 2006 WWRE
July
26 The Long Beach Press Telegram
newspaper agrees to Titanium Sponsorship and
will publish a 12-page tabloid about the 2006 show the week prior and will have
7,500 copies available for distribution for those attending!
August We have more than 38 vendor spaces already committed, with many new food vendors.
Aug.
7 The Grand from
Long Beach will make canopies available for vendors. Contact is

Aug. 11
Auto Trader magazines joins to help promote the '06 show with 15 full-page
advertisements in October.
Aug. 18 We pass the 100 mark on cars registered for the 'Wheels' portion of the show.
Aug. 23
K-EARTH Radio signs on as a sponsor; and Yamaha Motors Corp. renews their
sponsorship. K-EARTH will have a specially designed Jeep from the Monster Garage
which they will be raffling off in 2007 to benefit the USO.
Sept. 6 We
have passed 150 registered cars, three weeks ahead of last year and applications
are coming in quickly! Vendor spaces are also approaching the 50 percent
sold mark --
don't wait if you want to get into this year's Fifth Anniversary
Show!
Sept. 12 Huntington
Beach Hogs and Choppers joins as a Titanium Sponsor! They are customized
bike builders from the mild to the WILD! Based in Huntington Beach, they will
have nearly
1,000 sq. ft. of exhibit with some fantastic motorcycle rides. Looks
like we'll have a full
field of motorcycles this year for spectators to enjoy as
well!
Sept. 13 K-EARTH announces
that disc jockey Gary Brian will be on-site the entire day to sign
autographs
and meet his fans. In addition, the Monster Garage is producing a
specialized
Jeep that will be given away in January, 2007. WWRE will be
one of the first locations
where the Jeep will be shown, and proceeds from this
raffle will go to the USO and our
troops! (does that mean the Jesse James
will be at the show? Stand By)
Sept. 18 We have passed the
200 mark on registered cars. We are more than 1/2 sold out on
vendor spaces --
and we have six weeks until the big Fifth Anniversary show!
Sept. 20 American Airports
Corporation joins as a Titanium Sponsor to assist with bringing 20 World
War II war birds to the '06 Wings, Wheels and Rotors Expo. Our thanks to Kris

Sept. 26 The 40th Infantry
(Mechanized) Marching Band will perform during the 2006 "Wings,
Wheels and Rotors Expo", marching through the car show and plane display
area.
Sept. 30 Today is the deadline to obtain a pre-show entry savings on car entries!
Oct.
4 We've hit 342 cars entered,
meaning we'll surpass the 400 mark within the next week or
or so. And 72 vendors have signed up, taking more than 110 of our 150
booth spaces!
Oct.
9 We have confirmed that the two
planes used for photographs with car entrants will be an
F-16 Fighting Falcon from Tucson, AZ. and a P-51 Mustang from WWII fame!
Oct. 11 We've
surpassed 375 cars entered and 30 motorcycles! Trophy award program to be
posted soon.
Oct. 12 Citibank signs on and will coordinate on-site ATM machine.
Oct. 14 The famed Navy Leap Frog jumping team confirms participation during WWRE.
Oct. 18 We have reached
428 registered cars and motorcycles! Only 14 vendor spaces remain
available! The first 500 will receive goodie bags and participant badges.
Oct. 20 All
pre-registered show cars have been sent their entry number and maps for special
entrance to the base. This will avoid confusion with non-registered cars. Non-registered
cars will enter from the Lexington Street main guard gate and will be directed to new
registration area.
Trailer parking will be available near the check-in location on base.
All show cars will
be provided and asked to display an American Flag in honor and tribute
to our soldiers who are defending
our freedom through out the world. In addition, the
first 4,000 youngsters entering the base will
be given an American Flag.
Oct. 21 The
Clipper Girls cheer and drill teams will perform twice in the morning, followed
by
autograph sessions in five different locations at the show.
Oct. 22 Of the 150
vendor spaces available, only 5 remain! Two food courts will be available
this
year.
Oct. 24 Wednesday, Oct.
25, will be the final day for accepting pre-registration for car show
entrants.
All paid applications received by this date will be confirmed by return mail;
those
received after this date will be held and confirmed by telephone, with entry
materials held at WILL
CALL at the car registration area. On-site registration will be
open at 7 a.m., via
Lexington Street to the Joint Forces Training Center. The $35 fee
will be accepted in CASH only, no
checks, no credit cards.
Oct. 25 We have
passed 475 pre-registered cars and motorcycles. Our vendor spaces are now
SOLD OUT! We will continue to accept car and motorcycle entries, and you
may register
on-site day of the event.
Oct. 28 Good
weather predicted; appears like we won't have any large military aircraft on the
ground for the show, however, we have a very large field of cars and vendors,
lots of
helicopters ... fun for everyone! See you tomorrow.

Oct. 30 THANK YOU
to all who participated or attended the 2006 Fifth Annual Wings, Wheels and
Rotors Expo! Beautiful weather prevailed and we set records in terms of
attendance and
participation! We had more than 650 show cars and motorcycles, 150 vendors and
attendance
estimates exceeded all expectations. Please watch for our Show Survey
form to be added soon
and take a moment to tell us what you enjoyed and how we can
improve for the future. Thank
you on behalf of the committee, the Los Alamitos Chamber
of Commerce and the Joint Forces Training
Base.
Oct. 31 Photos of
car and motorcycle entrants taken with the planes are now available from
Titan Graphics.

Based on more than 8,000
spectator cars parked on the Joint Forces Training Base, we have settled on
attendance
for this year's show at 21,822! The Young Eagles flew 157 youngsters (and
5 adults) for
their aviation experience during the show; and 214 helicopter rides were taken.
Nov. 9
Following a debrief with committee members, the 2007 show date was set for
Sunday, Oct. 28,
from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. (one hour later due to the extension of daylight
savings into the
first week of November. Watch for entry forms to be posted in early December
(2006) and plan
now to be a part of this exciting annual tradition!
